I think it is a loaded question though I have seen surveys in the past where far too many people claim to be in the middle class both on the high and low end.

I am buying my first property and paying cash for it and I was asked if I wanted to order a location survey.  

I just had the asbesto's survey going to cost me 22k to remove that.. plus a few dumpster.. then i have the fire department coming in to burn the house and barn building down for free :)  So ya a little paint who cares.

When you purchased the property, your title company likely pulled an old survey or commissioned a new one. 

You will have a long approval process and pay for appraisals, origination fees, surveys, etc.
