The lesson on how to use the software shouldn't take more than an hour once it's been setup to the accountant's liking.I would just spend the extra time with the accountant or else you'll likely input something wrong and have to pay him/her to fix it anyway.

I believe that Open Office (free software BTW) has a plugin that allows for PDF files to be opened and edited; I have used this to make text changes to PDF files in the past (on an older version of that software - newer versions, well I haven't tried to do this yet).
