A lease is much like a deed, you have transferred legal rights to this property to the tenant and have taken on legal obligations for the maintenance on the property.

I got the building under contract and then figured out financing.

There are lots of listings currently under contract, I guess the buyers are not going to show up for closing next week.. 

But as Chris mentioned, buyer has to own the property, not a contract for deed or something like that.

And the really messed up ones, they don't even give a landlord an option, per fine print in contract, they just go out and do whatever and send a bill after the fact.
