I totally understand being spooked, and I think you're doing the right thing by tightening your security, but I do believe you'll come out the other side of this without a problem :)

Your childhood in Ukraine sounds idyllic. 

Buy some adt security signs and stick them on posts in plain view get some fake cameras with led lights ... if it goes on you could pay a local security guard with free fine to wear his uniform and walk up and down the sidewalk for 15$ an hour each Friday or Saturday night for a few weekends till they get spooked and leave

@Dan Schwartz ending the war in Ukraine and returning balance to the global energy supply would be a a start.

If it is borderline already then maybe getting spooked is a good thing.
