Finding a local agent is helpful for sure but with today's technology, a broker who specializes in Chicago should be able to work nearly every neighborhood and get help from some colleagues if they are not super familiar with a certain area.

@Anthony McEvoy I want to learn about how past changes in technology have impacted systems such as MLS and how people at the time responded to those changes. 

Maybe I'll start a whole blog here on  technology to address questions like this.  :-)I don't want to hijack this thread, though.  

They are old school and definitely not technology savvy, but their paperwork seemed thorough and organized.Maybe it should have been a warning signal when they handed over a wad of unmarked keys.

I think its great that in a more technologically forward region like Oakland is already starting to be digital.
