With vinyl plank, the color goes all the way through (at least the ones I have bought had this), so even if you gouge it with a key, it still doesn't show like other flooring with just a surface color.

Albany seems to be good from the surface but I do not know the area very well.

You need a good surface to lay vinyl on so you have to get the glue up if you do that.
