Yes, they're nice to have, and I am sure they have their perks, but to me it seems like more of an aesthetic preference - one that generally isn't a deal-breaker.Or you could view it as an insurance investment.Now, if I had a tenant who happened to be a carpenter and who wanted to build a storage shed in his yard, I would offer to pay for the supplies because I could market that to future tenants and hike up the rent.

To add my own 2 cents, 1) tenants are not going to rent or not rent because of the trim, 2) if the finish is in good shape aesthetically, you’re just adding work and it’ll be more work to maintain going forward, and 3) trends change and it is not easy to go back to exposed wood.Don’t do it.

I have updated most of the home and it would be very a desirable for any renter/home buyer, as the homes in the area do not have the same aesthetic on the interior that mine does.
