I am thinking about removing both tenants asap and trying to get the smoke smell out but removing all carpet, whipping down down every surface, getting ducts cleaned and running an o-zone machine if needed.

Universities champion them because they’re cash cows for business schools - how do you think they paid for that marble flooring and Starbucks vending machine?  

You can also try an ozone machine, which works pretty well on homes with dog odor. 

It was unexpected because this unit was just reno'd and doesn't have a washing machine. 

Same with washing machines.
