Often times people are presumed to be wealthy because they live in a big house or drive a fancy car, but I would argue that alone usually doesn't tell you how well the person is really doing financially. 

My one bedroom vacation condo is by no means fancy, so I would assume someone making minimum of $1000 would stay somewhere more posh.

I need one of those fancy airplanes.

Yeah we don’t have fancy cars, a 2017 volt and a 2018 CRV but they just aren’t important to us, compared to retiring 5 years after starting to invest. 

In fancy economic speak that's called INFLATION. 

I DIY most maintenance & my wife accuses me of dressing like I was homeless.

Or a young couple who just graduated and want something nicer than college dorms, but nothing fancy or expensive.

I grew up in a small town, can handle a rifle, field dress a deer and fix my own rentals, and weld circles around most people.  

If you prioritize saving for that down payment over getting the fancy car and expensive apartment it makes it much easier to save at a faster rate.

Maybe all south of Pine.I remember my nephew dressing down like a bum to get through the Occupy Wall St gauntlet, then showering/changing at his offices for the day.
