When their dog bites somebody or they blow a hole through a wall because they were smoking with an oxygen tank or start a fire because they fell asleep with candles burning?

I was scraping the melted candle wax in the drawer and I can never expect the property manager to do this.  

He's a bit of a hipster (he'd kill me for saying that) so the small hippy feel of Cold Spring is what they were looking for, while Beacon would be a little bigger.  

Moreover, if the house smells of too many synthetic fragrances, like candles, air fresheners, or sprays, it may be to cover up problematic odours.Check for leaks under the sinks, basement, windows, and other areas if you notice a moldy odour.

Sure, a property owner could ban alcohol, smoking, pets, pools, trampolines, candles, non-working cars, and so on.

Also, you might consider some light staging like nice towels and candles in the bathroom, etc. to give it some color and warmth.

It might be different if they'd rent a smoking unit, but they are too good to live with the stink and burns from the previous tenant.Of course, smokers lie, so I still get the occassional smoker, but my contract specifically says that the tenants will pay for any smoke or burn damage from cigarettes, candles, incense, or any other flame or burning, up to and including full cost of replacing the carpets and re-painting the interior.At least when the tenants lie and sneak smoking, they are more careful, because they know I will kick them out if i catch them.

Place a couple of fliers and cards in around the home, as well as have open house with their cookies and lighting candles making the house smell like vanilla wafers, blah, blah, blah...

Still can't hold a candle to the areas outside of Columbus, but still it isn't too bad.
