If you aren't thereto personally oversee maids, repairs etc. it can be very expensivei know ocean props require a lot of maintenance upkeep just due to the salt in the air (my aunt had a 2nd home and talked about how the salty enviro eats thru everything sooner or later.

If your property is in Galveston then be prepared to deal with a ton of more maintenance due to the salt water and air that rust out everything.

Summary - Be very careful buying low price rentals in the Indy Market and take the pro-forma's of any turn key with a huge grain of salt I purchased from High Return Real Estate in July of 2017 not knowing anything about the market aside from listening to their podcast selling Indy really hard and why it is such a great rental market.I took the bait but unfortunately it has been nothing but issues.

Then there's the good old save like crazy from your current cash flow and personal savings to build your "war chest" until you find an investment you like.Finally, I would take the advise of folks who live in the midwest with a rather large grain of salt ... their markets are completely different from SoCal and their advise may be sound for their market, but it does not hold water for SoCal.
