I eventually got them out of my house by sprinkling the floor with borax and vacuuming, putting a candle in soapy water and placing it on the floor after lighting (yea, it actually works) and washing everything.

Friggin motivated sellers that see total logic that their dog died in their yard suddenly has a monetary value and want 200K MORE for their house and no matter how much actual functional logic you use with numbers and Bernoulli's equations, graphs, charts, sprinkled with the 3rd law of thermodynamics,.. they just do not get it.

I mix it and sprinkle in to all their pathways, behind cabinets (even drill into inconspicuous places to insert it, then caulk up the hole).

I've had good luck just wetting down the whole area and then sprinkling Comet or Ajax -- anything that contains bleach -- on the grout lines.

Here we have the added dimension of *real* winter and the challenge of adequately insulating and air sealing these old buildings which typically had no insulation and, at best, may have had 1-3" of sawdust for insulation in the attic.
