One is called a Distribution and putting $ in is called a Contribution.

There are a lot of investors out there that take a lot and don't create the best places to live or contribute greatly to neighborhoods.

Partnerships are definitely possible and can be rewarding, but I would just make sure the relationship is outlined thoroughly and both members are contributing to the deal in some way.
