I'm in NJ but a quick search on Houston landlord tenant law pulls up a Houston Housing and Community Development Dept page which say:---------------------- A landlord must LET TENANTS ENJOY THEIR HOMES.

Its a skill developed by the investor.  

You are correct in that once you have identified a neighborhood and you see a rental listing come on you need to run there immediately with credit reports and money.

Now the people who own the lot next door are selling their property to some buyers who want to develop a mountain home and they've requested that the propane tank be moved.

Thanks True about restriction on the renting - but I assume you're working with a local agent, who knows the developments which you can rent.

This is the first condo in the development to be modernized - not a single updated one has been sold (but all look good from the outside  - all brick).

No plans to rehab, they'd just put down a deposit during a sub-development construction phase with the believe that (at complete) they could rent or sell them for a profit.
