In my opinion it is not worth it. 

My opinion is to invest in the S&P unless you are willing to spend a substantial amount of time learning the space.  

I will also change my opinion.

Just check the facts and figures.Like you suggested, there are various opinions, which are all valuable and it's great like that.

The quick short answer in my opinion is this: If you want growth stick to the small multis that you know and once the mortgages are paid off retire fully.
