At 15% I don't think you're being greedy, but see if it works for you at 18%.

I'm not greedy nor altruistic, I'm just like most who want a better life for their loved ones. 

It requires the ability to sell, manage a deal, hustle (in the go quickly sense), local knowledge of the neighborhoods, evaluate repair costs CORRECTLY and not get too greedy all at the same time.  

Rent increases are ok, but dont get greedy!

Just do not be too greedy :).  

Of course if the heirs all quitclaim their interests to you -- they should but as you are aware, people are greedy -- that would also be a solution. 

All the people involved in the story will then complain about the rising rents and the greedy landlords.Like it or not, slumlords serve a market segment.

I would do a more modest increase and the a bump.again in 12 months.Cheaper in the long run to keep current tenants than be greedy today and run every one off.
