I can't remember all the details but I warned him its most likely one of those scams where they don't own the place. 

There are way too many people out there doing scams all the time.

@Drew Cameron,  Almost every time there's a huge upfront fee for things like this it's a scam.  

As an example, if my home owner was "john smith" the Nigerian scammer would snag "johnsmith at yahoo.com"The scam was that "john smith" was currently working as a missionary in Nigeria. 

Don't get scammed by a "buyer" that is trying to assign a contract on your house.

It could be a scam.

Unfortunately, they are all scams.

Granted, his grammar isn't stellar, but English may be his second language, and poor grammar (while annoying) isn't necessary confirmation of a scam. 

I’m sure she thought she had scammed me for three grand.
