The purpose is to keep my files up to date and to monitor tenants on my property.

I have added video cameras onsite for security and being able to monitor the property from a distance, and then I have found a local handyman that is interested in learning the business to do the weekly maintenance, cleanouts, etc. 

Some other things to consider before going the short-term route are what your city laws are and if they are monitoring Airbnb/actively pursuing them and if you rent a condo, if there are any HOA limitations.

time spent monitoring is minimal.Net on the passive line but somewhat more active is to invest in a loan syndication.  

My property is pretty well seasoned and I only need to visit once every few weeks and also monitor the property via security cameras from home.

Knowing that's how we monitor welding for safety, I wouldn't want to have that responsibility over a tenant on my property.
