Thanks for any inputHi Nick, To add to this discussion, anything that is high dollar, such as utilities so plumbing, electrical panels, HVAC, anything structural, windows can get really expensive.

I am putting GFCI outlets at the head of each circuit and I updated the panel with new guts.You can use 3 prong outlets on a 2 wire system with GFCI's if you use the little stickers that come with the GFCI outlets.

you want to know these things- high ceiling it's a drop, regular type ceiling it is flush or small drop), some sort of pendant light for the breakfast area, flat flush mount light for the kitchen area (not the over the sink light), new 6 panel doors unless you are going retro in which case it is usually better to stay flat doors, etc...
