(I was actually born in San Jose)   I considered doing that style on the house we are doing in Capistrano Beach, but since we are incorporating a rooftop deck, it wouldn't work. 

I just want to think everybody for the responses@Rick Baggenstoss I estimate the final cost should be about 30 to 50 K more@Paul Samia yes unfortunately there's no payment plan except splitting the payment into three equal payments@Nick Stango they are going to be redoing this cedar siding and a stack of decks including mine.  

On top of bedroom addition will be the fiberglass roof deck.

He's also done various odd jobs for my rental like resupporting the deck, fixing french doors, rehanging fence gates and other things. 

The 45 degree angles also provide more resistance to lateral forces than if the decking ran perpendicular to the joists.
