This is perhaps changing but  in NorCal where I live in one of the most Liberal Progressive areas in the country there is lots more talk about green and not much in the way of real attitude shifts.

You know my theory - that modern liberalism has heavy roots to the eugenics movement of the early 20th century.

Coming from a liberal arts background myself, I would actually suggest AGAINST getting a degree in something you're passionate about (as many folks here have suggested).
