Honestly, I've not found that sweet spot yet, on how much cash to keep locked up as equity.If you're junior enlisted, or a junior NCO, this is absolutely the right path.

I am a retired military officer, disabled vet (10 year Terminal Attack Controller during my enlisted years--destroyed knees jumping out of planes), and 30 year real estate investor.

I plan on re-enlisting in the Colorado Army National Guard in within the next year.

If I were to re-enlist, which is not planned right now at all, then your recommendation would have definitely been ideal. 

I was wondering if anyone in San Diego has done this successfully while being lower enlisted, and if it is a good idea or not.

Feel free to share more details but I would advise enlisting an agent if you haven’t already.  

But within those are low and high end markets, enlisted areas, college markets and sub markets, as well as higher end executive rental markets for both higher demographic college students and scientists and researchers at the NBAF facility. 

Recently, in December 2020, I completed my 7-year enlistment in the Air Force.
