Like I said, there are certain areas (like La Jolla, Del Mar, Enc.) that you'd have to be nuts to buy a STR in because of how strong that NIMBY influence is.

This is not as easy as it used to be because of the new regulations removing the appraiser to "arms length" away from any influence by the buyer, seller, or financial institution.So even thought you can use them, and the appraiser can use them, they need to show that they were not influenced at all by you the buyer or the financier.
