Keeping systems and roof current are essential but cosmetically, making changes to appliances, countertops, flooring will make a big difference in most homes, keep you current and stop you short of totally re-doing.

I'm not familiar with the drawer microwave, but we did have our microwave installed under the countertop of the island, which was nice and out of the way.Good luck!
