The heater is in a heater closet with the cold air intake under it opening up into the bottom of the furnace.

As the original closet doors were just shy of 8 ft tall, we had to custom build them to save on costs.

There was a room to the left with 2 closets, the bathroom straight ahead, and a much larger room to the right with 4 closets and past that was a duck/crawl attic storage area.

One thing I will disagree with is I would recommend always checking in the cabinet of every sink and peak in every closet.

We will have to come in and make those bedrooms conforming with egress windows and 1 needs a closet but the rest of the basement needs an entire makeover (new floor, new bath, add a kitchen, add a 2nd bathroom etc. etc.). 

My uncle died and I went to his house that he was renting, it was in really bad shape, mold in closet, leaky roof, no basement steps, but being poor that’s all he could afford.

If so the cost to put up walls and a closet may not be as high as you think, assuming you have the space to do so and a proper egress window.

Realtors have gone in to assist (elderly) seller with property relocation from closets in order to look for access, but found the closet floors are all carpeted.
