Usually the buyer when they sold was a local guy who paid much less than they did for the property because they understand that rougher market and how to make it work which takes a special touch to handle high maintenance tenants.

There's no real right of possession for public property in any state that I know of, and in most places they can remove your items without compensation and forebidding their return.
