In addition to @Carolyn Fuller point of ask guest do they need anything. ( after night 1 )    I have had a lot of luck asking after they have left ( We strive for a five star experience.

That would be much more meaningful and have a greater impact on his future rather than your lashing out as you have done which, by the way, helps absolutely no one.

I sold fuller brush door to door.. was good at it but 50 bucks a week was not going to cut it.. bagged groceries for 2.18 an hour which was pretty good with 25 cent gas. and I dreamed of being a checker with the 10 dollar an hour pay and what would I do with all that money. 

rejection in many forms is SOP for door knocking  direct mail any type of advertising really.My first job way back when was selling Fuller Brush door to door.. much like being on a Mormom missions or a Witness coming to your door.. or selling magazines.. etc.good advise above.. when you knock on the door ALWAYS step back.. and down a step if there is one.. 

The issue is that the owner is mentally unstable and creates problems and then lashes out on others on the block.

too funny you mention the I don't want to be a salesmen.I was brought up in a sales family.. top salesmen drove the nice cars.. the worker bee's well you know.I always wanted sales.. my first job was selling FULLER brush door to door  I made more in 3 hours than my piers made in a whole week of bagging groceries...
