Desires and then reality comes into play.someone mention Puget Sound I suspect you being from this area you have been there.. but that was one of our fav's when I was still flying a lot we could fly up to Friday harbor from Portland in about 45 minutes.. so if you have a small airplane it works well.. and between Friday and East sound they are very cool.. prices though are not cheap.. but very pretty. and somewhat in the rain shadows as well. not as wet.another place you might want to explore that is still affordable is just north of Cabo on the Pacific side there is some early developing going on there.. you can buy lots NOT water front but water view for reasonable..

I used to fly a small airplane. 

You would be surprised the number of Type B's that easily tune out traffic, airplanes, trains, dogs, and everything else.

Other than real estate we love to travel, (almost hit all 50 states with the kids), she is into textiles (knitting, sewing, weaving, spinning) and I’m an airplane/helicopter mechanic, photographer, and do a bit of sewing myself. 

Real estate is not a commodity like cars or boots or cans of green beans or airplanes.

well for airplanes thats easy there is a FAA registry 

However if your looking for something to build like airplane hangers..
