Do secure credit cards improve credit that much??

creditors want to see that you are able to utilize credit and pay it back. it takes discipline to do (but mostly willpower). lets use your 7-10% numbers. say you have a 5000 credit card. that would mean that you can't use more than $350-$500. that is just not logical. to even go out and buy some decent furniture (lets say $1500) you would need a $15,000-21,500 limit. the numbers don't make sense and show no discipline to actually utilize and pay back a fair amount of borrowed money. and to even get those types of limits you have to have a pretty decent score (which is what the goal of playing the whole utilization game).

Taxes can go up, the economy can drop which makes vacancy sky rocket, etc. 15 year loans don't make sense unless your trying to retire in 15 years and don't have the will power to make extra payments on a 30 year.

For instance people do not just accidentally go to work and arrive on time; they predetermine a goal to go to bed the night before at a reasonable hour, purposefully set their alarm, use will power to get up when it goes off in the morning and plan their route according to traffic before leaving the house. This just goes back to habitually setting goals, making a plan to achieve them, preparing ourselves, and using will power to accomplish those goals (no matter how seemingly big or small)!
