In my experience (personal & w/clients) the wife usually doesn't want to pick up and move too often to stick with a strategy like yours.

In my experience, most properties that go to auction end up overpriced so I'd be prepared to attend a LOT in order to get something that worked on paper.When I attended my first market auction with an experienced agent the advice he gave me was to figure out my maximum beforehand and stick to it (Seems obvious but people get caught up in winning).

However, if long-term stability is the priority, sticking with the original financing approach might be the better move.

I come from Europe too, and I know it can be overwhelming when you look at the real estate market in a new country and with completely different building technics ( sticks instead of bricks), but is not as bad when you have the right team in place. 

This is why we usually stick with residential properties.  

I agree with Michael.Appeal to everyone with maximum overlap instead just a few.For sure, if that approach works for you, I’d definitely stick with it!

It takes time and dedication, but stick with it and you'll find success.

I found a house that I like to purchase in a great neighborhood and the exterior looks great for a 1922 stick built house.
