You should engage with the local players in the commercial market i.e.

Do you have a CLUE how many big players still make a fortune wholesaling?

Keep a leverage player on hand, if you find a great deal.

Hire only “A Players”.  

Agree, STR are saturated but given the numbers, I expect unsuccessful players will leave the market.  

On a worldwide basis, the US is considered a business haven where many can hide their identities.

You'd have to do the research locally, market by market, to determine who the players are.

The pref layer is a third party institutional player.
