Two things come to mind right off the top: 1) EVERYBODY'S dog is a harmless, silent, and perfectly obedient creature who does nothing all day but sit and adore their owner, and 2) pet ownership is a privilege of property ownership.

That said, I am curios if one could require the tenant to carry additional liability insurance on the animal, or documented completion of obedience training.

I have owned several of the breeds mentioned (I currently have my shepherd mix pup and my foster pitbull puppy sleeping at my feet), but I made sure my insurance covered them in addition to obedience training.
