I have also really considered medium term rentals, however it seems that the market is somewhat saturated as many rentals have been dropping prices significantly when I look through Airbnb.

You can also put it on furnish finder and try to get a medium term rental until busy season. 

Up until recently I've been renting to medium term tenants, who never put anything up, so I never had this issue.

My interests includes but is not limited to co-listing Airbnb, short term, medium term or long term rental properties just to include a few.

You can consider the medium term route as a possbility as well so you can still occupy it for a few weeks a year.

Property Managers come in all shapes and sizes, I tend to recommend seeking a medium size local company. 

I don't know much about the "medium term" rental market in SF, but I would say that you may as well try it because rents will only be going up...
