If you have a financing contingency in place, that could have been your scape goat when the DSCR ratio no longer worked. 

I will likely invest in other areas and just rent a beach house when I want to go, at least for now.

You don't have to go at it alone like what you have done already.

Invest your money elsewhere and go at it when you have enough money to control a neighborhood and the comps.
