I did everything from roof to hvac.so this inherited tenant is now complaining bc she is the only one with radiator heat. only thing I did for her is minor repairs and she benefitted from communal renov. she had financial difficulties, she is now only 1 month behind. but pays monthly.if she paid 900-1000.

Especially for communal laundry where lots of tenants use the same machines.

From what I can tell from the plans thus far, there will be limited "green space" or "communal areas" (the developer committed to "total green space equal to 1/2 of a soccer field") which I suspect will drive foot traffic to the local residential neighborhood. 

A lot of colleges have old dorms that fit two students in a room with shared (communal) bathrooms or a suite with multiple students living in one suite and one shared bathroom. 

There, residents can garden, dine, read, or get on each other’s nerves on a patch of communally owned property. 2.

Are the communal utility charges $200-250 or are you including those for your unit?

So you can sell the upper or lower unit separately than the other and you just split expenses for communal areas.

As you pointed out communal living in a multi-family is going to involve some level of discomfort at times.

Maybe in a single family , but multifamily is a communal mess.
