I had a friend that was at the point of tiling his new shower and putting up kitchen backsplash when the inspector knocked on the door to snoop around.  

My initial thoughts are to spend money upgrading the kitchen and master bath; granite countertops, tile backsplash, maybe a pot filler over range, tile shower, extra windows?

We just fully renovated the property, new kitchen cabinets, countertops and backsplash.

No Ice Maker - Maybe countertops, light packages, & backsplash. 

We just do the tub and surround, then do a nice tile half wall around the rest of the bathroom, coordinating with tile flooring, including sink backsplash and toilet area, as it’s so much easier to clean for turnovers and protects everything from splashing kids, pets, etc.

For example, a backsplash that can easily be pulled without taking the drywall with it.

We do engineered wood, granite counters, marble tile in the bathrooms, custom tile backsplash, etc.

This will be a rental grade reno with middle grade new cabinets, hardware, and backsplashes in the kitchen.

I saved some money by doing the entire house painting and backsplash tiling myself.
