Duncan, my understanding is if your employer would allow you to self direct, or if this was from a previous employer and you can self direct it, then you can bounce around self directed custodians doing these extended rollovers.

He doesn't really have the money to pay on the 5th but he doesn't want to get that late fee, so he pays on the 4th knowing it takes 4/5days to process the payment, AND knowing it will come back NSF, so it automatically sets it up so he's behind in his payment when it bounces.

Well I drew them in line the other day when their check bounced (from a closed account) and they didn't promptly make good on it.

I get some properties sent to me from other wholesalers and I don't want to just bounce everything off my buyers especially when I have had some of them say "no war zones".

Good thing about a bounced check is that unlike paying rent writing a bad check is a crime.I've had success getting the police to collect on bad checks.I don't know if it applies to the o.p.'

All they can say is that it will clear or it won't and, if another draft beats yours to the proof room it still may not clear.On another note, I have worked with tenants and borrowers, called so I'd not be messing with bounced checks, but stopped doing that.

Unless, of course, they give permission, which means that if they have anything they don't want you to see they'll just tell you to bounce and there's nothing you can do.Also, having lived in several multi-hundred unit complexes, and working at several more, I assure you that most maintenance teams have much more to do than inspect every apartment monthly.

If you are going to accept personal checks, be aware that they will bounce every now and then.
