He may be trying to pick properties that he would buy, which can be hard to do if you two don't share the same vision or preferences in properties.

And if you put 50% down on a 300k house you'll still have 850k (most of your money) left to pursue the larger vision. 

Looking at the plan of Parmer innovation center they have a really good vision (more like Domain-sque entertainment/ work colocation type development) and companies are leasing up the spaces so fast.

I currently work in Hospitality and have knowledge in renovations and budgeting which helps in the real estate market vastly.Hopefully I will be able to meet some investors who will share my vision on some properties and in-turn, pull profits.

We are just about to buy a house on land we want to also develop later down the line, so we are buying, refurbishing and renting and it should cashflow $500 month.Our property and land will increase in value, capital decrease and all works very well with a longer term vision, so that's what we need to do.

I listen to my clients but I also use my knowledge of real estate to ask questions and possibly expand their vision.
