I'd still offer the discount to the tenant, and tell CBH that you expect them to reimburse you for the discount you had to give your tenant, or you are going to sue them for that out-of-pocket expense and your court costs, at minimum.

When this happens, I told them that I keep the original security deposit until all original tenants are gone, and they'll have to figure out between them, who reimburses who what as far as the deposit goes.

., and that we strongly suggest they get renter's insurance to cover them, tenants will look at you in shock and amazement that they have to pay for their hotel bill, beyond the reimbursement for just the rent amount (which of course doesn't touch the hotel bill).
