Two issues we've found with craigslist is an increasing problem with ads being "stolen" by scammers and relisted at lower rental rates (it's gotten to the point where we no longer post the address of the rental and at times, have to place a notice on the door of the rental warning others of the scam) and ads being lost in repeated ads for the same apartment complexes, townhouses, duplexes and "rent to own" ads that, again, sound too good to be true (i.e., $400 for a 5 bedroom, 3 bath house).Some of the other sites appear to have tighter controls over these nonsense ads.Gail

Talked to a lady two days ago that got scammed out of $1200 by "lenders" asking for fees. 

I am currently trying to work with a guy who I think might be trying to pull a scam, but i'm not 100% certain.

If they let you go ahead,, If for some reason closing doesn't happen I'd just do a holding fee, have them pre - sign lease and once you close you'd sign and return lease to them.Some may be skiddish about this as Scam type people are in all types of business.... so be prepared to answer and document you have interest in property vested to be new owner. 

The PM then has to decide if they are going to completely scam you by assuring every repair is at least $50 higher than it should be so the Tenant does not have to pay JACK and stays happy (and PM can move the tenant to another rental condo they manage in the future).  

According to this BBB article this has a high probability to be a scam.

How do I go about finding a contractor (Who wont scam me) when I'm so far away?

sorry ED, just trying to warn people that are looking to learn of the scams that can be out there.

All I have read is that it's a scam help me get back my money.

The other sounds like a scam and as a new investor you should stay away from that.
