I also do post to local neighborhood groups on Facebook periodically but recently have cut down on my social media dramatically (too much drama, arguing, and general hatred towards one another.)That said, when you meet someone for the first time and they say, "What do you do for a living" I've (finally) pivoted to say, "I own a small real estate business" first (instead of after talking about my W2.) 

But if there is a way to make it feel less awkward or unsafe can you please let me know.How  can I found mentor on LinkedIn, Facebook or Biggerpockets with out sounding annoying by sending lot of direct message to random people?

Can you afford the downpayment, brrr costs, keep money in the deal and have sufficient reserves for both properties(i.e 2 years of vacancy/lead times, 75-100% of capex, 3-6 months of random ********?

It can take months before randomly the check just shows up in your mailbox.

If you associate his name with an article and its on a reputable website (news) or even just their social media, it's a quick google search for his name by a PM, landlord or interested LP to throw up red flags.

The people who are helping are genuinely nice people, but NOBODY should be clicking a random link left on an internet forum, that is just common sense.

Real Estate is the long game, not the get rich quick theme we hear on social media. 

My idea is to offer my skills, such as social media management, painting, or assisting with various menial tasks, in exchange for the opportunity to learn the trade.

After researching further though on social media and then criminal records I found about 12 previous arrests and numerous convictions burglary, theft, criminal trafficking, molestation (don't think convicted), battery. 

I’d love to get creative with marketing without spending a ton, whether through social media, local community groups, or any other cost-effective avenues.
