I'm now living in MD where I bought a condo based on the fact that I can rent it out and it should cashflow when I move out (which probably won't be long), so I've at least also convinced myself that that's a good idea especially with the low interest rates right now.I also enthusiastically second Mitch's suggestion to consider house hacking with roommates (or if you happen to find something with an ADU or even a duplex that would definitely open so doors for you)Good luck - hope you find something that works!

I'd look at a couple of places...Gainesville due to proximity to the casinos where there is very little housing...and maybe Commerce where there is growing university.   

Personally I want to see a sponsor that has gone through at least one full real estate cycle with little to no money lost, uses conservative leverage and projections, put significant skin in the game and has competitive/reasonable fees and splits.The thing is that the majority of these really experienced sponsors have built up very enthusiastic investor bases over time, so they are generally not going to crowdfunding sites (where they would have to pay an extra fee) or spending time on forums.

Go to the local pony track or closest casino to his house and you will see him there with defeated eyes.I fell for the bs pitch on giving more money to get my original money back once as well, won't ever happen again!

Hello Fellow Real Estate Enthusiasts, I am hoping this thread can get us tech professionals networking with one another and discussing our experiences in real estate.

I was less than enthusiastic about having to save that much again to be able to invest when my goal was to insulate myself from my day job.

I would like meet up on Sunday with other real estate enthusiasts.

But it’s basically an auction and auctions are terrible places to get good deals in this market environment- tons of enthusiastic buyers overbidding.
