Paint 70's paneling.

The inspector looks and places a " failed " sticker on the panel .  

"The survey found the worst, most outdated features in homes include linoleum floors (40 percent), popcorn ceilings (29 percent), wood paneling (28 percent), ceramic tile countertops (28 percent), shag carpeting (19 percent) and avocado green appliances (8 percent)."

I've seen some cool 3D panels, etc. 

When I do a reno I change out all old closet doors with 6 panel bifolds.

In fact, I had to yank the 3rd floor kitchen, pull the 3rd gas meter, and "upgrade" the electrical to two separate service panels instead of 3. 

The panels should point south.

@Nathan Wiebe 9/10 I do it before I buy the property, he's not a home inspector but I made a form for him to make marks on so he doesn't accidentally forget to check the electrical panel for instance.

So my gut feeling just based on what you said would be to get it "freshened up" (6 panel doors, some nice paint, replace some carpets, remove clutter, heavy cleaning, clean ducts) and get as much as you can out of it.
