To be quite honest, I get incredibly tired of hearing the comments of "Just suck it and walk away," "They have more money than you and they will spend whatever they need to on their attorneys," "It's not worth it after you count the cost to litigate it" etc etc.

Doing the above can give you a sense if hey electrician was honest, I would still be upset with the PM and agree that this sounds like a fraud.
