I would not paint cabinets unless you have them done professionally, and unless you are really good with taping and spraying I can't see you respraying an entire kitchen for $800 including doors (unless it's just 4 or 5 total cabinets!).

I made the connections by stripping the wire, wind a bunch of solder around it, wrap it in foil, heat it with MAPP gas, let it cool, remove the foil, and finally wrap it in electrical tape.

All I have had for 45 years was a 3/4 inch wide tape with a roller ball on the end.
