Is it a diversity there with jobs, meaning not a one trick pony town?

@Lee Berkwits, the economy is actually fairly diverse. 

Austin's neighborhoods are fairly diverse.

This is a big city with lots of diversity, so neighborhoods will differ. 

I am looking for steady growth with a diverse economy, rather than a more cyclical market.

This current government is pushing equality and diversity, but I fear that higher rates aren’t going to push prices down, but only make it so the wealthy can purchase real estate and make the divide greater between the rich and the poor.

(aka I need a weekend at the beach for my mental health)Unless your speculating, diverse investment in index funds (such as an S&P 500 tracker) is an easy relatively low risk thing for anybody to do - doesn't require much thought, can give you basic tax deductions, can get tax free growth etc.

Pretty diverse area you are talking about from some pretty scummy areas of Glen Burnie to some really nice parts of Severn.  

I'd try to think of a midwest city w/ good stats (ex >250k pop, growing population, median income >3x median rent, low crime, diverse economy, etc) that you have a connection to - friend, fam, etc.

I suppose you can say im looking to replace my wage ASAP as well as build up a large diverse portfolio in a short amount of time.
