In those young man years one of the better ways to get high fun value at low to no cost would be to date older women who have their own plentiful income stream and are looking for a man in that young virile age range to give them a good time and they'll pay for dinner and drinks, etc. 

I wasn't interested in RE investing at the time but I've kept in touch with him as friends and have been able to run quick questions by him from time to time, and any time his dad is in town I "kidnap" him, take him to dinner at his favorite ethnic restaurants, and pick his brain. 

I rented an apartment right out of high school in San Jose  ( prior to buying my first home the next year) and the tenant below smoked his doobie every night after dinner out on the porch and it waffed up to our apartment.. this was 1975..

I wasn't able to go but I do remember seeing an email come through mentioning because of Labor Day they decided to instead do a networking dinner for those available.
