And one other thing I've noticed here - the really bad stuff - miswiring in electrical panels, unsafe gas installations, etc - tend to be done by people either doing it themselves or hiring their brother to do it because it costs way more than it should to do it with licensed people pulling permits because of all the BS they have to go through, which means they have to charge more money.

His brother is licensed and insured and that is who the actual contract is with, but my contact has been doing the work.
