Paint kitchen cabinets and get some new laminate countertops only for the really dated ones.

It doesn’t have to be fancy.Today, my husband and I bought a 72” countertop and two 24” cabinets from IKEA for under $400.

At one point, I knew that for a full interior cosmetic rehab (new paint, flooring, cabinets, countertops, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, appliances, etc), that I was spending almost exactly $14,500.

The kitchen estimate is largely (1) opening up a doorway, (2) moving a light switch, (3) countertops, and (4) backsplash.

The kitchen had lower than standard cabinet countertops to accommodate but are being torn out.(1960’s 70’s)  I know that I’ll be going back with standard cabinets but unsure about framing up for standard 32” interior doors instead of 36”.

Also, go to Lowe’s or HD and get to know the costs of things like bathroom sinks, vanities, the cost of carpet or hardwoods, paint, doors, countertops, etc. 12) invest in J.

I remember on our first flip we got quoted double our budgeted price for countertops and had to go back to the drawing board.

Side question but related...Has anyone went from tile countertop and replaced it with Quartz while keeping the original cabinetry?
