I guide clients who are looking to treat their STR as active.Somethings to consider are whether you should get a cost segregation study done, creating a log of your hours and having an understanding of what hours count / don't count.

My wife and I have been surprised to see that we've been able to raise the rents on our MTRs much higher than we expected, but we had not counted on that to be profitable.

That is several thousand in rent gained right there and they is not even counting the cost you would incur with each turnover.
